TEHRAN - Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif on Wednesday discussed the prospects of political settlement in Syria over phone.

The Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Wednesday that during a phone call initiated by the Russian side, Lavrov and Zarif said international players should support inter-Syrian talks in order to reach a settlement to the crisis rather than try to decide the results of those talks preemptively, Tabnak reported.

On a relevant note, spokesperson of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova denied the reports by some media outlets which alleged that Russia is preparing a plan for settling crisis in Syria to be proposed in the upcoming Vienna meeting this week.
